Rey is a rare breed who is not a photographer by trade, yet Mother Nature reveals herself to him quite often. While he jokes about being able to call Mother Nature’s moves in advance, he knows that he is truly blessed to have Mother Nature show herself to him whenever she allows it. His latest mission is to “frame” a mountain lion out west in Big Bend National Park, Texas. He knows that this mission may never be realized, but he will always be in love with the beauty of West Texas regardless.


“To me, mountain lions are just an apparition in my mind. I’ve seen three large cats in West Texas that I KNOW I saw, and yet they moved so quickly, so powerfully, and they were so absolutely silent that I had to think twice about whether or not I really ever saw the cat to begin with. Yet there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that the lions did in fact see me. They only allowed me to see them after having long before sized me up to determine that it was ‘OK’ to reveal themselves to me for that brief moment in time.”
